Would you like to know how you can be more persuasive in your MLM business?
In this post, I’m going to share some tips on how you can do it.
If you want to be more persuasive in your network marketing business, take the focus off of you and put it on your prospects. Instead of you pitching them your awesome compensation plan or product, focus more on what they want. Figure out what their dreams and goals are in life and then show them how your business can help them achieve it. Whatever problem they tell you they are having, you always have a solution to it, with your product, business or service.
How To Be More Persuasive In Your Network Marketing Business
You’re either persuading people towards joining your network marketing business or you’re pushing them away. Most network marketers push people away. You want it to be your prospects idea to join your business. Most people in network marketing are doing the complete opposite. They are persuading people NOT to join them.
Take this example: You just join a new mlm business, you immediately start pitching your family. You start telling them things like, how great the company is, the 100 different ingredients in your products, how easy it is to make money.
Notice anything about that type of approach? It’s all about you. When you make it all about you, your prospects are being persuaded away from you.
A simple way to start persuading people to join you is by asking them questions. Figure out what they want.
Once I made that mindset shift to start asking questions my results increased.
When I prospect people, I never use hype, I never talk about how great the company is, in fact, I actually make my prospects tell me why they are open to looking at my business opportunity.
What Is Prospecting?
If you’re in network marketing you’re in sales. Prospecting is the first step in the sales cycle. That first step is just identifying someone who would be open to taking a look at your business opportunity, product or service.
You can prospect people in your warm market or people you know and they know you.
You can prospect people in your cold market, people you don’t know. Your cold market will always be bigger than your warm market. Your goal should be to turn people you don’t know into your warm market. Most network marketers skip the entire prospecting process. They always assume everyone is open to their business.
When you take the approach of everyone is open, you waste a lot of time chasing people down. If you focus on learning to prospect, you’ll save yourself so much time because you’ll only be spending time with people who have raised their hand and said they are interested.
One of the best skills you can learn is how to get good with your cold marketing prospecting.
My go-to line when prospecting is, “Would you be open to a side project if it didn’t interfere with what you’re currently doing?”
Prospecting Tips To Find More People
If you’ve ever made the statement, “I don’t have anyone to talk to about my business.” Don’t worry, I’m going to hook you up. You can pick up my free audio that shows you 13 different places you can find people online, and you can check out the following tips.
While Your Out Living Life
I always find it amusing when someone tells me they’ve run out of people to talk too. I mean there are people all around you, as soon as you step out your front door, at least for me there is. My little piece of the earth is in an apartment building.
If you work out, you can prospect people there. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve met awesome people while walking on a treadmill or while lifting weights. Keep in mind I don’t ever pitch anyone I’ll simply find out if they would be open to taking a look at what I have going on.
One key thing that I do is
I’ll usually say something along the lines of, “Hey, before I leave I wanted to throw this out here, I have this side project going on where you can make some extra money, Would you be open to take a look? If you are cool, if not it’s no big deal.”
You never want your prospecting to be high pressure for the other person. You want to give them a way out of the conversation without it them or you feeling all awkward.
What are some other please you can think of to prospect?
Call People You Know
Have you really reached out to everyone you know? Have you went through your cell phone and called or messaged everyone in there? Probably not. Your history with your warm market will guide how you should reach out to them.
If you’ve been in 100 different companies and have pitched your warm market 100 different times, you’re going to need a different approach.
You want a fast answer when prospecting, my go-to script here is to pick up the phone and simply say, “Hey, I’m doing this new business, it may or may not be a fit for you if you’re open to it cool if not that’s cool too.”
Everyone Is Not A Prospect
You might have been taught that you should talk to everyone you meet about your business. But honestly, I think this is a bad idea. You see, not everyone likes network marketing, not everyone is looking to make extra money.
If someone has a bad attitude or I don’t get a good vibe from them I won’t prospect them. That’s one of the cool perks of running your own network marketing business, you can pick and choose who you want to work with.
A question I always ask myself during my conversation with someone is, would I like to potentially travel and hang out with this person. If the answer is no, I’ll disqualify them and move on.
You might think you want everyone in your business but having but if your prospects have not to desire to work hard, or have any type of goals or do whatever it takes to build a business you might want to consider letting them go.
Step Yo Game Up & Become A Villian
So there’s this book by Ben Settle called Prospecting, in it he talks about some characteristics used by villains so they can be more persuasive. He lists out about 10 of them, I’m going to point one of those characteristics he mentions that really helped change my mindset about prospecting. If you want to check out the book you can pick up a copy here on Amazon.
Ditch Being Needy – Nobody wants to be around a needy person. Some signs that you are needy if you talk to too much during the prospecting conversation. If your prospect tells you no you immediately go into convincing mode. If you constantly bug people about your business. All of these things are signs of being needy.
Don’t worry, we’ve all have done things similar to these at one time or another in our business. Truth be known just about all the top earners out her probably did too.
The thing to remember is that starting right now you can change your approach. Kick being needy to curve. Always maintain your posture when prospecting.
Operate your business like you’re already making a million dollars a year and you’ll start signing more people up in your team.

Conclusion
Prospecting is the name of the game when it comes to network marketing. The more people you can get on your company presentation the better chances you have of getting a new team member or customer.
Don’t be afraid to talk to your warm or cold market and think speed when it comes to prospecting. You want to find out if they are open as fast as possible so you don’t waste your time or theirs.

Amazing how big a difference that focus shift takes Dereco. Like, one minute you are doing OK by focusing mostly on self. But the split second you become a cheerleader for others, things take off. Power post buddy.
