How To Start Affiliate Marketing On Facebook

How To Start Affiliate Marketing On Facebook

In this training blog post, I want to show you how to start affiliate marketing on Facebook.

Most people use Facebook the wrong way, spamming their links all over the place giving home businesses a bad look.

If you’re looking to start affiliate marketing on Facebook, the first thing I would do is start creating helpful content by doing Facebook lives and using strategic status updates. Instead of thinking about how you can promote your link on Facebook, think about how you can get people on your marketing list. You’d want to send your affiliate link to that marketing list. Let’s jump into some detail so I can show you how to do it.

What Exactly Is Affiliate Marketing?

Here’s a good explanation of affiliate marketing I researched and found.

Definition: A way for a company to sell its products by signing up individuals or companies (“affiliates”) who market the company’s products for a commission.

Here is my explanation of affiliate marketing. It’s when you make a commission when someone buys a product or service through a web link that’s tied to you. In my opinion, if you are a beginner to online marketing, affiliate marketing is the best way to get started earning money online. The company handles all customer service and delivering the product or service. All you have to do is send them customers usually through a link that’s assigned to you and you get paid.

I usually get asked from leads that I generate, what do I recommend for getting starting making money online. I always tell them affiliate marketing. It’s the best way, in my opinion, to start earning money online when you’re brand new.

How To Start Affiliate Marketing On Facebook

When you’re talking about marketing on social media, Facebook is at the top of that list.

Unfortunately, not too many home business owners use it the right way. When someone first joins a business or finds a really great affiliate product, the first thing they do is sling their sign-up links all over the place. Which in my opinion is not a very effective marketing strategy. That kind of behavior does more hurt to the profession more than anything.

So what is the right way to use Facebook? What should you be posting? What do you say when someone reaches out to you?

You should focus more on what your audience wants vs what you want, that’s the right way to use Facebook. So exactly what does that mean? Instead of posting how great your product is, instead focus on the benefits of your product and the problems that it can solve.

Think, what would it take for you to reach out to someone? Would you buy or sign-up from one of your Facebook friends if all they posted were their affiliate links or constantly spammed you telling to buy a product? You probably said no to both questions but that’s exactly what most people do and wonder why they are not making any money.

Creating helpful content helps brand you as a leader and it helps build that important like, know and trust factor with people. When people start to like, know and trust you, they’ll start reaching out to you wanting to know more about you and your business.

For example, I’m a member of an online marketing system that teaches people how to generate leads and make sales online. Instead of me posting my link, I would instead give out some tips (without mentioning the company name) on generating leads online (A big problem most people have), and tell people to reach out to me if they would like more information.

How To Post Your Affiliate Links On Facebook

When someone clicks and buys through your affiliate link that’s how you get paid. When you’re using Facebook you NEVER want to post your affiliate link. That’s like throwing crap at the wall and hoping it sticks. You only want to send your link to someone who has requested and given you permission to send it to them. It’s usually done through messager.

I think you should look to talk to more people instead of trying to post your affiliate link. If you create the right the content you’ll have people reaching out to you if you’re creating the right type of post and videos with CTA (call to actions).

Why Your Marketing List Matters

Real quick, a marketing list is just a collection of names, email addresses and sometimes phone numbers of people want to hear from you.

While promoting your affiliate links on Facebook can work. I find building up my email list and sending my affiliate offers to my list far more effective when it comes to making sales. With social media, you have to follow their guidelines on posting links. I don’t have to worry about any of that with my marketing.

If I had to start over, I would put all my focus on building my marketing list up by adding people to it daily. I would start creating content like videos and at the end of those videos, I would have a call to action asking them to reach out to me for more information or sending them to a capture page.

What To Do When Someone Reaches Out To You

Now let’s say you get someone to reach out, what do you say to them? Do you immediately show them your affiliate link? I would suggest you don’t. When someone reaches out to me, I take it a step further and asked them what made them reach out.

Usually, when I ask this question, prospects will give me the information I can use when it comes to them buying an affiliate product or signing them up in my network marketing business.  My goal is for them to tell me where they are struggling or what problem they are having. I want to be their problem solver. Whatever problem it is, I have the solution.

If you get someone to respond to you from your content, congratulations you just generated your first lead online. Learning how to effectively communicate will have the biggest impact on your affiliate marketing business. I struggled with talking to people back when I first came online. I did get better but that came with time and practice.

Conclusion

Don’t just mindlessly post your link all over the place, and think the money is going to start rolling in. The key to affiliate marketing on Facebook is to create to get people to reach out to you. Creating helpful content might be a different approach than what you know but in my opinion, its the best way to use Facebook to promote your affiliate products.
