Prospecting For Network Marketing
Before you start recruiting for your company you need to get this one concept down and that is don’t be attached to the outcome. Let me explain, let’s say you just joined a new mlm company and you are fired up like most people are and should be but when you go to talk to talk to someone either in your cold market or warm market they just don’t see the same thing you do. The worst thing you can do is go into convincing mode trying to get them to see things your way. Don’t say things like “this is a no brainer” Instead, this is where you should posture up and say something like, “Hey, that’s cool this is not a fit for you but do you know anyone that would like to make some extra money if we show them step by step on how to do it?” BOOM!
There is a way you can help minimize the rejection and that’s by qualifying your prospects BEFORE you even show them a presentation. You do this by asking them questions. Here are few examples. I always like to ask this question early in my prospecting conversation, “What’s got you open to taken a look at a home based business now?” or “What’s recently changed in your life that has you open to a home based business?” The cool thing here is you are getting them to tell you their why. Now don’t let them just give you a shallow answer like “I want to make more money.” Ask them why do you want to make more money or what would you do when you start making more money. This really gets them thinking on a level they probably haven’t even thought about yet.
You should take each and every prospecting interaction as a way to get better. The more you prospect the better you will get. So if you’re just starting out don’t worry about being perfect. Everyone pretty much sucks when they first start out anything. The goal is to get better and learn from your mistakes and move forward and work on getting better.

Hi Dereco,
Great post you wrote here. I believe one of the biggest challenges newbies have in the Network Marketing space is addiction to the outcome. Mainly because they are in dire straits and need the money. They are focused more on themselves than servicing their customer or providing a solution for their potential business partner. I liked your questions to ask beforehand.
Agreed Daria, when you become detached from the outcome your posture increases causing you to become even more attractive to your prospects. Thanks for the comment!
The question “why?”is so powerful. It allows you to peel back the layers until you reach the foundation of what’s important to your potential prospect. Great info! Thx for sharing! !
Yes exactly Terrance, peel back those layers and get to their root why.
Great pot Dereco!
Prequalifying them gives you the ultimate posture as you get to choose who you want to work with….
Dr. Lisa
Prequalifying makes building your business so much easier. You are able to weed through the tire kickers fast. Thanks, Dr. Lisa!
I sooo agree that you have to pre-qualify prospects! That way you’ll sign up a lot more people, and you’ll also spend less time on “convincing them”. If you don’t qualify a prospect, then you’ll spend way too much time on the phone with them. Great post Dereco!
Agreed Jelena, I don’t ever try and convince anyone. Those are the one’s who end up quitting .
Agreed Dereco! Trying to convince only creates stress!
Yep it sure does and if you manage to convince them they usually won’t stick around long. Thanks for the comment Beverly and for stopping by!!
You are so right Dereco! When I started to ask questions, I started to qualify the prospects and that way is when I started to enroll more people spending less time in trying to present to someone who it’s not for them. You always deliver Dereco!
I appreciate that Gordan, thanks for the comment and for stopping by!
