If you are comfortable with technology and not in a real rush to make money, then yea go ahead and create your own blog. If I had to do things over, I would have just hired someone to do it for me. You will get your site up and running a lot faster. You can always make changes later after you start getting some sales and leads coming in.

Don’t use the free blogging platforms, make sure you go the self-hosted route. The free blogging platforms limit you to what you can and can’t do. When you go the self-hosted way you have total control over what you want to say, and sell on your site and YOU own it. The only way you can get shut down is if you don’t pay your hosting bill.

If you are just starting out, you will need at a minimum these key things to get started.

1. Somewhere to host your blog. I use wp-engine and highly recommend them. They do cost a bit more than some of the other platforms, but their customer service and knowledge is well worth the investment in my opinion. 2. You will need an autoresponder. The number one reason to blog is to generate leads. You will need a way to capture those leads, and that is what an autoresponder will do. You can have all the traffic in the world but if you don’t have a way to capture their information it’s pointless. I recommend using Aweber. They are cost-effective, and the service works great.

Now that you have your blog setup, you will need to start putting content out in the marketplace. I struggled in the beginning with content because I had no clue of what I should blog about. It wasn’t until someone told me to teach the day one version of myself that the light bulb went off in my head.

You can get all the content you will ever need if you do the ILT. That stands for invest, learn and teach. Invest your time and sometimes money into courses, books, videos and, trainings. You learn something from the training then you turn around and teach it. It’s that simple and the exact model that I use to come up with content. I learned about this through a blogging course that I mention right before the video.

Also, focus on the problems of your target audience and not just the things that you know. Figure out who you want to work with and write content for their problems. For me, I want to work with people who like or are already inside network marketing and want to use the internet to build a business. I come up with just about all my content using this method.

How Much Money Can You Make Blogging?

Pretty much the sky is the limit there really is no limit on the amount that you can earn from blogging. There are a lot of people making a full-time income from their blog. It all depends on you and your work ethic but don’t expect to blog for a week and expect the checks to start rolling in. Blogging is a long-term strategy.

My first year of taking blogging seriously, I made enough to earn a 1099 tax form from the government. The following year I doubled that, and it has continued to increase. I did this using affiliate marketing which is a great way to earn some additional money. Affiliate marketing is NOT network marketing. You simply refer someone over to a website, they buy something or subscribe to a service and you get compensated.

Building your network marketing business is going to take time, that is why I highly suggest doing affiliate marketing to open up multiple streams of income. Here is an post that will help you get started with affiliate marketing.

What I Did To Make Money With Blogging

I go into a more detail in the video below but here is what I did, I invested into myself with blogging products. Technology will continue to change, how setup facebook ads will change but the fundamentals of blogging won’t. I still go back and go through some of my very first courses that I purchased, not for the technical aspect but for the thought process.
