What you want to do is start creating content. Creat content by doing videos with your smartphone. Go live, upload them to YouTube and make sure they are value-based videos. It won’t cost you a single dime to create videos from your smartphone.
What Is Value Based Content?
So now you’re probably wondering what do I mean by value-based.
Ask yourself this question when creating your content. Can someone watch your video and take something away that they can implement in their business? If the answer is yes then you have a value-based video.
Think about it, what value does someone get if you create a video talking about how great your company compensation plan pays. That gives zero value to someone’s life and quite frankly nobody cares about any of that stuff.
What they do care about is what’s in it for them.
Here’s an example of a value-based video you could do.
Let’s say you’re network marketing company is a travel MLM. You could create a video teaching people the best times to book a flight to get the cheapest price. See how someone could watch that video and get some value from it?
Here’s an example of a NON-value-based video:
I’ll use the same example that you’re in a travel MLM. You create a video talking about your compensation plan or asking people to join your business because YOU are close to hitting the next rank.
See how the two pieces of content are totally different? Which one do you think would have more people reaching out to you about?
Skip The Fancy Equipment
Listen, you don’t need anything fancy to start creating videos. I remember thinking to myself I needed all this fancy stuff before I could record my first video. Nope, I was just telling myself a bunch lies to justify why I wasn’t doing videos when I had everything that I needed which was my cell phone at the time.
I used to say things like, “I’ll record my first video as soon as I buy that new camera.” I needed the best quality, right? Or “I’ll shoot that video next time the weather is good outside.”
See how crazy all of those statements sound?
Maybe that’s you right now. Maybe you feel like you don’t know enough to do a video. Or maybe you’re just flat out scared.
Let me just say this, you do know enough. If you know at least one thing about your target audience and at least one problem they have then you know enough to do a video. If you’re just scared the best advice I can give you is, JUST DO IT!
Turn your camera on, look into the lens and start having a conversation like you are talking to just one person.
4 Simple Steps To Make The Perfect Video
Ok so now you know creating videos with your smartphone is how you can generate leads without spending a dime. Here is a simple 4 step strategy that I learned when it comes to making videos.
- Intro – Say your name and where you live. “Hi, my name is (insert your name). I’m coming to you from my home office here in (Insert your city and state.”
- Question – Insert a question here. “Do you want to know how to generate leads without spending a dime? Well, stick around because in this video I’m going to show you exactly how you can do it.”
- Content – This where you answer the question in step 2.
- CTA – You always want to have a call to action (CTA). Ideally, you’d want to point people to a capture page to collect their information but if you want to do it without spending a dime, you can simply tell them to reach out to you if they would like more information.
How To Become A Content Creation Machine
Here’s the foolproof way to come up with content. Invest in yourself. What I mean by invest in yourself is you should purchase books, courses, hire coaches, read blog post from people in your niche. All of these things and be fully immersed in your business.
I get a lot of my content from my coaching calls, and just from questions, I get from leads I talk to on the telephone. This blog post came from a lead I was talking too.
Don’t overthink your content creation. And don’t make the mistake I did and think just because someone has already created a piece of content that you can’t do it too. Put your own personality and voice on it and make it yours!
So there you have it. I just gave you the blue print for generating leads for dang near free. At some point you will want to invest some money into a service like Aweber so you can manage your leads a lot better but honestly it’s not a must have in the begining.
