Is it possible to actually build a network marketing business using the internet? Yes, without a doubt it’s possible but you’ll need to learn a few skills to make it work. It’s not a get rich thing, it’s going to take you putting in the work, a lot of work. In addition, you want to present yourself as professional so you can attract the right people to your business.
Six Online Network Marketing Skills To Recruit More Reps
Let me keep it 100 with you, building a network marketing business is no simple thing. You’re going to need a core set of skills, hard work, and consistency.
I’m not the type of person who’s going to feed you a ton of BS on how easy it is or tell you just do this one thing.
What I am going to show/teach you is the core skills I think every person needs that is serious about building their network marketing business online.

If that is you, let’s get down to business so you can get started with implementing these strategies I’m about to share with you.
Posting your company links and asking people to join you is not marketing and it doesn’t work. You need to learn how to marketing online.
Let’s say you were a guy would you walk up to a woman you don’t know and ask her to marry you? No, you wouldn’t, you would introduce yourself, have some conversation and if things go well exchange phone numbers, and maybe go out on a date afterward.
That’s how you need to think marketing, you introduce yourself through your content, content that attracts people to you, and if they like your content, they’ll give you their email address and sometimes phone numbers for you to email and call them.
And maybe, just maybe if your conversation is good, they’ll buy something from you or even join your team.
Good effective marketing can have people feeling like they know you to some extent, especially if you use video.
The purpose behind marketing is to hopefully get people to raise their hand and tell you they want more information. With that said, if all you do is post the name of your company, you’ve given your potential prospects the keys to the kingdom.
You lose all of your power. All they have to do and will do is Google your company name to find out all the information on it, good or bad.
You want to be the one to control peoples exposure to your company through your company material.
So how do you market?
The most effective way I’ve found it is through education-based marketing. That’s where you put out free information such as “how to” content and the solving of peoples problems.
For example, people want to know how to generate leads for their home based business online. You can learn a few ways to do it, and then turn around and create a piece of content on it, have a strong call to action, and tell people to reach out to you if they want more information.
You’ll have way more people reaching out to you if you approach building your business leading with education.
Know How To Brand Yourself
Let me tell you what most network marketers do when it comes to branding. They brand their company. Think about that for a moment, you’re branding a company, something you don’t own or control.
That’s the worst thing to do. What if you decide to change companies? Yep, it can and will happen.
It would be nice if could spend your entire network marketing career with one company but the truth is companies change, you change. There are so many things that could change.
If your company was named XYZ and that’s all you talked about, you put it all over your blog and your social media sites, people would associate you with company XYZ.
What if company XYZ gets shut down, changes their compensation plan or what if the leadership goes in a direction you don’t like. All kinds of things can happen.
That’s why it’s so important to brand yourself. You are the one constant.
Starting a blog? I suggest using your name. That’s branding.
All of your marketing should focus on you building your brand around YOU!
When you’re trying to figure out your brand, ask yourself what do you want to be known for?
When people google your name what comes up? Is it a bunch of spammy post from one of your social media profiles? These are the types of things you need to think about when building your network marketing business online.
You might be thinking, what exactly is branding. Branding can be a logo, a combination of colors, a sign. An example would be the Nike swoosh sign.
With myself, I want to be known as someone who helps other network marketers build their business online. I do that by providing education to that target audience.
I teach on a few things such as blogging, video marketing and anything related to building a home based business online. Mixed in with some network marketing training.
You want to brand your name. Network marketing companies come and go. My name is not associated with a company or product. Things change over time. The one constant is you and your name. I can’t stress this enough. From this day forward you should work on branding yourself.
Should You Brand Yourself First?
I would say no, and the reason being is I’ve seen people get hung up on branding themselves and they forget about doing the things to build their business.
Instead of worrying about a fancy logo, or taking professional pictures your time will be better spent talking and prospecting people. You should work on your business first and building your brand online second.
Content is king when it comes to marketing online.
If you’re new, you might be asking yourself, what is content. Content can be anything from a blog post such as the one you’re reading now, Facebook live, YouTube videos, podcast just to name a few.
So here is how I approach my content creation, I learned this cool strategy called ILT. Invest, learn and teach. It works just like it sounds.
You invest something like your time or even money, you learn it by actually implementing it and getting a result and then you turn around and teach what you learned so the next person can get the same or even better result.
Anytime I’m consuming some content, I’m thinking, what can I personally start using in my business and what can I teach from what I’m learning.
If you take notes, you can create content from those notes.

Jump on, take a few notes, and share them with your audience. You’ll look like the expert and the go-to person.
Network marketing is a people business. Meaning you have to talk to people. If you don’t like talking to people network marketing might not be a good fit for you.
I see a lot of people online that want the fancy funnel that does all the work for them. When they don’t even have the basic fundamental skills to effectively communicate with people.
The best advice I can give you when it comes to communication is to take yourself out of the conversation. Make it all about your prospect. Figure out what they want and show them how you can help them achieve it.
Most network marketers have this backward. Anytime they are prospecting they make it about themselves. If you don’t want anyone to join your business, just start talking about how great and magnificent your company is and see how far that get’s you.
Learn how to follow up with the leads you generate online properly. I use a customer relationship management software (CRM).
Every time I talk to a lead on the phone I take notes on that conversation.
So when I talk that person later on down the road, I can remember how many kids they got, the goals they were trying to achieve and anything else we might have talked about.
I can’t stress enough the importance of having a good follow up system.
At the very least write things down in a notebook if you don’t want to use an online system.
You have to make time to work your business and to work on yourself. That’s the only way you’re going to get the results you want and grow your skills.
I can’t tell you how many people I’ve talked too that say things like, “I don’t have the time.” What they are really saying is their dreams are not important enough at the moment and that’s ok.
I go hit the weights 5-6 days a week and have been for the past few years. Before I used to always say, I didn’t have time to go workout or I was too tired. I always had an excuse because it wasn’t important to me at that time.
I work my 8-5, get off work, go to the gym workout, create videos for my youtube channel and create content here on my blog, call my leads back, and follow up with them, while still having a social life.
So don’t tell me you don’t have the time. If it’s really important to you, you’ll make the time. If it isn’t you’ll find every excuse on why you can’t do something.
If you truly want to build your network marketing business online, generate leads and make sales, you’re going to need to put in the time.
