If you want to build your network marketing business online, you want to be creating leverage.

Tools are designed to help you along your journey, so here are in my opinion the three essential network marketing prospecting tools every online network marketer should have.

Best Places To Prospect For Network Marketing

Before we get into my recommendations for tools, I want to share some of the very best places to prospect for network marketing. The more eyes that you get on your presentation, the better chance you are going to have to signup up new people.

  1. Join a meetup group you find from meetup.com. This is an excellent way to meet new people and expand your network. A key tip when going to one of these is you are not there to pitch your business, let me repeat that, you are not there to pitch your business. Here is a BIG tip for you, while you are there, you can stand out from the crowd and instead of handing out your business card, you just collect them and follow up with them at a later date. Also, make the conversations all about them, take the focus off of yourself.
  2. At a restaurant. Make sure you talk to every good waiter or waitress that you come across if you are out to eat at a restaurant. They are some of the very best people you can recruit into your mlm business. They are already some what trained in sales and most of the time they are always looking for something a little bit better. So next time you come across a great waiter or waitress, just simply ask them, “Do they keep their options open when it comes to making money?” If they say yes, you should collect their information to follow up with them and get them on your presentation at a later date. Don’t forget to leave them a good tip!
  3. While you are on vacation, this is a great time to meet new people. Think of the last time you were on a flight somewhere, did you think of prospecting the person sitting beside of you? Strike up conversations with people. Ask them what they do, but again let me stress this point, do not under any circumstances pitch them your business. Say less to more people.

There are prospects for your network marketing company all around. You just have to pay attention and start conversations more. Learning how to do cold market prospecting is a great way to build your business once you have run out of your friends and family.

I met people all the time when I go to the gym, I simply strike up conversations with them. I find out what they do. I look for pain points and I ask them if they are open to taking a look at something that can potentially solve that pain. If they say no it’s no big deal, in the end I’ve still made a new friend, the timing may not be right. See you have to think long term as well.

If you go into pitch mode and run your prospect off, they will never join your business. But if you present yourself in a professional non-salesy way they might reach out to you when the time is right for them. Imagine getting a call from someone you prospected months ago and they are now interested in checking out your deal. This is what can happen when you expose people the right way.

Network Marketing Prospecting Questions

When I meet someone, I like to ask them questions. If you ever run out of things to say to someone or don’t know what to say next, asking a question is a great way to keep the conversation going. Here are some examples of network marketing prospecting questions I like to use when I’m talking to people.

I always lead with a compliment first, then I ask them what do they do for a living. This is a great question to ask someone when the conversation is first starting out. This can lead yo down the path to finding out if they have a pain point that your network marketing business can address.

Asked them how long have they been in their current profession. Again this can start to open up wounds, they might end up telling you they work long hours and they don’t have enough time in the day, which is a problem your network marketing business can solve.

Here is how that conversation could go,

Me: “Hey that’s a sweet pair of shoes you have on, where did you get them from?”

Them: “Oh hey thanks, I just picked these up from footlocker. They were on sale.”

Me: “Cool, what do you do for a living?”

Them: I work at the local factory right down the street from here.

Me: “How long have you been doing that?”

Them: I’ve been there for the last 20 years, althought I’m not sure how much longer I’m going to be there.

Me: “Why do you say that?”

Them: Well, they were just bought out by a new company and everyone is on edge about their jobs now. So i don’t know what I’m going to do.

Me: Yea, I can totally understand that, I was in that same position a few years ago and it’s not a good feeling. Well let through something out there to you, I have something that i think could help you out so you don’t have to worry about your job sitiation. Would you be open to taking a look?”

Them: Well yea I sure would.

Me: “Awesome! Well I have to run pick up my kids, but let me get your contact information and I’ll touch base with you on Thursday around 6pm, does that time work for you?”

Them: Yes, it sure does.

Me: “Ok great, hey listen it was good talking to you and I look forward to speaking with you on Thursday at 6pm.”

These are just some questions to get you started. The point is, keep the conversation friendly and when in doubt ask more questions, get better at asking questions. If you are building your business online, here are some resources that will teach you the network marketing prospecting questions that I use to find out if they are married, single or the dating network marketer.

Remember what I said, if you run out of things to say ask more questions. Get good at asking questions and watch how your business will change.

How To Use Mlm Prospecting Scripts The Right Way

I’m not a phone of using mlm prospecting scripts, people want to connect with the real you, not someone reading off a piece of paper. When you are in person it’s next to impossible to do this but online it’s a little more forgiving but be warned most people will be able to see right through you if you do decide to read a script.

Scripts should only be used as a guideline of how you want the conversation to go. Here is the thing about scripts, it’s not about a fancy script, you can give two people the exact script, word for word and they both will get two very different results. You see, it’s not about the script but the person behind the script.

If someone has been in a bunch of different network marketing companies and have burnt out their warm market, they will probably get an adverse reaction no matter which script they read from.

Now take someone who is a well-respected person from a lot of people, maybe they are a successful business person and have a big circle of influence. They can say hey sign up for this and let’s make some money and just about every they say this to will happily fill out that distributor application and get started. See the difference there? It’s all about the person behind the script and not the script itself.

Effective Prospecting In Network Marketing

If you want to do effective prospecting in network marketing, I highly suggest you use the FORM (Family, Occupation, Recreatioin, and Money) method. This is a technique that has been around a long time and for good reason. It flat out works. Here is how it works, during your conversation with your prospect you could start off by asking about time with their family. Asked them what do they do for a living, what do they like to do in their spare time for fun, and how are they preparing for their financial future.

When you are talking, make sure you listen closely because the goal is to listen for areas that are causing them more stress, for example, if you ask them what are they doing to prepare for their financial future and they say something like they don’t know or they are trying to figure it out, that can be an area where your network marketing company can help them!

Once you figure out their pain points you can simply ask them if they would be open to a possible solution to those issues, if they have a good response, again collect their information follow up with them with your business, show them how it can solve their problems and collect a decision. This is the simple art of prospecting in network marketing. Keep it simple, don’t try and reinvent the wheel.

This is the tip of the iceberg though when it comes effective prospecting, I highly suggest you talk with the top earners in your company and learn what they do. Also invest in yourself through books, courses, and webinars. Soak up as much information as you possibly can. Figure out which way prospecting works for you and go for it and most importantly stay consistent.

What Network Marketing Prospecting Tools Should You Have?

Online prospecting tools are a great way to build leverage in your business. Tools are NOT designed to do the work for you. Don’t make that mistake. You actually have to put in the work and use the tool to get the results. For example, one of the tools that I use to build and communicate with people on my list, is a service called Aweber, I highly recommend it. It only cost a few bucks a month, it’s a tool, it won’t build my list for me. I still have to go out here and create content, connect with people and put people on my marketing list. It won’t do it for me.

There are a ton of different options that you can add and it can be easy to end up spending more money than you are making which will more than likely happen if you are just starting out. But this is no different if you ran a traditional business. You still have the light bill, water bill, rent on your building and paying employee’s before you even see a dime. Running your own business is similar in the same way.

If you want to be successful, understand there will be some type of investment that you will have to make. There are some core Network Marketing Prospecting Tools  in my opinion, every network marketer should have.
